Napoleonic Units - French Infantry

Mainly Alberken FN8s, Line Fusilier advancing.

Napoleonic Units - Nassau Regiment

Alberken figures - early ones with the smaller base - painted as the Ist Nassau regiment c 1810 on service in Spain. I am intending to add a grenadier company eventually using Hinton Hunt Voltigeurs in Colpack.

Alberken and Minifigs 20mm AN 1 Hungarian line fusilier on guard

A figure from both the original Alberken and later Minifigs 20mm range, and particularly useful for anyone wanting Austrian infantry in helmets. Alberken were pretty much the only option here as Marcus Hinton restricted himself to the later shako hatted troops. This newly acquired unit is awaiting some horse trading with the other Alberken Austrians I have to sort out officers between them.

Alberken and Minifigs 20mm FNC 3 Cuirassier

One of the original Alberken Napoleonics, carried forward into the Minifigs 20mm range, was this one piece casting French Cuirassier. These 20 figures representing the 1st Cuirassiers are a recent acquisition. They have been rebased, and some basic paint touching up. Additionally the sword arm was removed from the figure which had been painted as a trumpeter. This arm was donated to the Carabinier posted below, and replaced with a Tumbling Dice Crimean Wars trumpet arm. The stump of the accompanying officer's sword was removed and replaced with (I think) an RSM 25 heavy cavalry weapon.

The swords on these figures are problematic. The heavy cavalry swords usually lose around a quarter of their length from the tip; the figures may have a mass sword replacement programme to come. The same issue can be seen to an even greater degree on the Austrian Chevaulegers figures posted above.

Alberken Ltd Metal 20mm Military Miniatures Catalogue and Price List May 1965

A bit of a treat: the Alberken Ltd catalogue from May 1965. Surprises include the availability of Gun and Crew Dioramas for Collectors, and how small the range of figures actually was. This I think is due to a tendency to describe all of the Miniature Figurines 20mm (HO/OO) figures as Alberken, whereas in fact many of these were new figures - put simply, all Alberken figures were also later Miniature Figurines 20mm figures, but not all Miniature Figurines 20mm figures had been in the Alberken range.

I hope you enjoy the catalogue.

Alberken

The Alberken range was the precursor to Miniature Figurines. It was absorbed into the expanded Minifigs 20mm range, later superseded by the "true 25mm" S Range.
