GHQ Guardsmen

I have posted this listing from the Walthers catalogue before and I am now indebted to Bob D from the States for sending me the following pictures of the sets of figures he has. The first five pictures show how the figures came in their boxes.

The remaining pictures show individual figures:

French infantry, showing separate heads and assembled:

French infantryman (firing) and Line Chasseur a Cheval:

Cavalry figure in three parts, showing the distinctive design and assembly:

And finally the underside of the bases, showing the stylised "G" marking.

There is also a photo of two boxes of ACW infantry:

I have some packs (Prussian Fusiliers, Grenadiers and Dragoons) of the GHQ Guardsmen 25mm SYW figures manufactured in the UK by New Hope Design. These were sold in small plastic bags with card headers, and separate compartments for bodies, heads and muskets.

I may post some pictures of these later if there is any interest.

ACW Unit: Rose AC8 Private in Hardy hat advancing

This is my five-hour regiment - how long it took to paint and base them. The figures are new casts from Rob at Garrison, and they are led by an AC1 officer and AC2 colour bearer, both in kepi. The sword arm on the officer, to my eye, is inordinately long. The Rose figures are stylised and maybe lack detail, but I like them and these were a pleasure to paint. I have a stash of Napoleonic Officers which I plan to add to Les Higgins units, to provide a little more animation. I am waiting my share (600-700) of a collection of vintage castings of Napoleonic figures so I thought I would paint myself into a Rose frame of mind with these

Rose ACW AC5 private kepi kneeling with Spencer rifle

While listed as infantryman in kepi with Spencer rifle, I wonder whether the equipment (large cartridge box on the back, plus holstered pistol) means that this figure is in fact a dismounted skirmishing cavalrymen. Those with better knowleddge of the ACW may be able to confirm or deny this. These are recent castings from Garrison Miniatures.
